The Divisional Council of Robertson was constituted on 23 February in terms of Proclamation No 21 of 1859 (Cape of Good Hope Government Gazette No 3014 dated 25 February 1859).

On 1 January 1980 the Divisional Council of Robertson was reconstituted together with the Divisional Council of Montagu to form the amalgamated Divisional Council of Wynland (The Province of the Cape of Good Hope Official Gazette No 4061 dated 20 July 1979, Proclamation No 174 dated 18 July 1979).

A Resident Magistrate’s Court was established at Robertson on 30 October 1858 (Government Gazette No 2981, dated 2 November 1858, Proclamation dated 30 October 1858).

The Robertson School Board was established on 9 September 1905 in terms of Act No 35 of 1905 (Government Gazette No 8787, 12 September 1905, Proclamation No 293, 9 September 1905). The first meeting of the Board was held on 12 December 1905 (Government Gazette No 8810, 1 December 1905, Government Notice No 1267, 29 November 1905).

The Board was dissolved on 30 June 1991 (Government Gazette No 13075, 22 March 1991, Government Notice No 549).

On 1 January 1980 the Divisional Councils of Robertson and Montagu were reconstituted together to form the amalgamated Divisional Council of Wynland (The Province of the Cape of Good Hope Official Gazette No 4061 of 20 July 1979, Proclamation No 174 of 18 July 1979).

On 31 March 1989 the Divisional Council Area of Wynland and portions of the Divisional Council Areas of Witzenberg and Matroosberg were established as the Breërivier Regional Services Council (The Province of the Cape of Good Hope Official Gazette No 4580 of 31 March 1989, Provincial Notice No 331 of 31 March 1989).

Town Clerk, Municipality Robertson

The Municipality of Robertson was established on 10 October 1857 under the provisions of Ordinance 9 of 1836.

In terms of Provincial Notice No 491 of 22 September 2000 the municipalities of Robertson, Ashton, Bonnievale, McGregor and Montagu was disestablished and the Breede River/Winelands Municipality was established (Province of the Western Cape Provincial Gazette No 5590 of 22 September 2000). In October 2009 the name of the municipality was changed to Langeberg.
