Town Clerk, Municipality Upington

The Village Management Board of Upington was constituted on 14 August 1889 in terms of British Bechuanaland Proclamation No 69.

The Municipality of Upington was constituted on 13 December 1898 in terms of Proclamation No 345, 1898 under provision of the Municipal Act, 1882 (Cape of Good Hope Government Gazette No 8084, 13 December 1898).

In 1994 Upington became part of the Northern Cape Province. It forms part of the Dawid Kruiper Local Municipality, one of six local municipalities that falls under the ZF Mgcawu District Municipality.

Town Clerk, Municipality Victoria West

Municipal regulations, adopted by the resident householders of Victoria West during a meeting held on 19 November 1858, were officially published in terms of Proclamation No 9 of 1859 under provision of Ordinance No 9 of 1836 (Cape of Good Hope Government Gazette, No 3007 of February 1859).

In 1994 Victoria West became part of the Northern Cape Province. It is the seat of the Ubuntu Local Municipality within the larger Pixley ka Seme District Municipality.

The Municipality of Williston, which was formerly known as Amandelboom, was granted municipal regulations on 20 July 1881 in terms of Proclamation No 106 of 1881 under provision of Ordinance No 9 of 1836 (Cape of Good Hope Government Gazette No 6169, 29 July 1881). The name Amandelboom was changed to Williston in terms of Proclamation No 133 of 9 August 1883 under provision of the Municipal Act of 1882 (Cape of Good Hope Government Gazette No 6398, 10 August 1883).

In 1994 Williston became part of the Northern Cape Province. It forms part of the Karoo Hoogland Local Municipality, one of seven local municipalities that falls under the Namakwa District Municipality.

Town Clerk, Municipality Kimberley

The Municipality of Kimberley was constituted by Griqualand West Ordinance No 7 of 1877 dated 27 June 1877.

In 1994 Kimberley became part of the Northern Cape Province. It forms part of the Sol Plaatje Local Municipality, one of five local municipalities that falls under the Frances Baard (previously Diamantveld) District Municipality.

The Municipality of Richmond was constituted on 27 June 1854 under provision of Ordinance No 9, 1836.

In 1994 Carnarvon became part of the Northern Cape Province. It forms part of the Kareeberg Local Municipality, one of eight local municipalities that falls under the Pixley ka Seme District Municipality.

Town Clerk, Municipality Windsorton

The Municipality of Windsorton was constituted on 18 June1915 in terms of Proclamation No 127, 1915 under the provision of Ordinance No 10 of 1912 (Province of the Cape of Good Hope Official Gazette No 389, 6 August 1915).

Prior to the establishment of the Municipality, a Village Management Board constituted on 19 December 1913 had functioned in the area (Province of the Cape of Good Hope Official Gazette No 299, 30 January 1914). No archives of this latter board have remained preserved.

The Municipality of Windsorton was abolished on 1 November 1963 in terms of Proclamation No 189, 1963 (Province of the Cape of Good Hope Official Gazette No 3210, 1 November 1963).

On 1 January 1964, the Windsorton area was proclaimed a Local Area within the Division of Barkly West, in terms of Provincial Notice No 718 of1963 (Province of the Cape of Good Hope Official Gazette No 3212, 15 November 1963).

The Village Management Board of Postmasburg was established on 4 October 1904 under provision of Proclamation No 325.

The Municipality of Postmasburg was constituted on 28 May 1936 under provision of Proclamation No 69 in terms of Ordinance No 10 of 1912.

In 1994 Postmasburg became part of the Northern Cape Province. It forms part of the Tsantsabane Local Municipality, one of six local municipalities that falls under the ZF Mgcawu District Municipality.

In 1994 Vosburg became part of the Northern Cape Province. It is part of the Kareeberg Local Municipality within the Pixley ka Seme District Municipality.
